reframing the ‘launch’ in 7 steps
by Indigo on Jan.26, 2012, under entrepreneurial inspiration
I hear about a ‘launch’ every other day or so.
~ Someone gearing up to bring forth a bold and beautiful new offering. I’m always inspired by people manifesting their visions, but I feel a sense of dissonance when I hear female creatives using the word ‘launch’.
Here’s the deal ~
The word ‘launch’ is linear. When something launches it goes from here to there. Think of a rocket ship taking off…a little phallic, don’t ya think?
I want to do this entrepreneur thing with femininity. Why?
Because I’m a woman.
And when I bring my feminine magic to anything I do, it becomes infused with beauty, inspiration, and meaning.
Ladies, let’s re-frame the ‘launch’. Here are 7 simple steps to begin:
# 1 ~ It starts with speech.
The next time we’re on the brink of manifesting something beautiful, let’s consider saying to ourselves and others that we’re about to give birth, bring forth, or some other language that more beautifully describes our experience.
We’re not sending rocket ships off into the ethers, are we? When we finally arrive at this moment of power, our vision becomes a reality and we bring something miraculous DOWN, through, and into form.
Our creation moves through us, it’s bigger than us, and the process is non-linear.
#2 ~ Embracing the Rhythm.
As WILDE women, we attune to our inner rhythms as they change from moment to moment to ground and align with our growth. If we’re in preparation to bring forth a vision right now, then the rhythm of this moment for us is the rhythm of BIRTH.
Birth’s rhythm IS POWERFUL, MYSTERIOUS, chaotic, and fluid. It’s a nonlinear, feminine process that can stall, lightspeed forward, then arrive in the past. Yet it unfolds within a trustworthy cycle that has distinct phases.
Understanding our process these feminine rhythms allows us to relax into them, rest in time-tested wisdom, feel confident in the outcome, and experience it all with new depth of feeling.
If we view the birthing phase of the creative process as a ‘launch’, we may fail to leave room for the mysterious, unavoidable chaotic nature of creation. Or, we may miss the depth of inner experience available.
#3 ~ Guarding the creative cave.
Birth requires an unbelievable amount of TRUST in ourselves.
We need to access our inner knowing in order to have the opportunity to take that risk to trust ourselves. We vision-mamas often need an environment devoid of: clutter, the demands of relationships, and interruptions in order to settle into that KNOWING and TRUST it.
Let’s give ourselves permission to turn off your phone, say ‘no’ to friends and family for a week, or do whatever is necessary to focus on our task at hand: we’re giving birth.
No one would expect a birthing woman to answer the phone right in the middle of it, would they?
#4 ~Expecting a marathon (and preparing for it).
It’s called labor for a reason. We need mega-endurance, massive inner strength, and downright gumption to show up for this process of birthing our voices and visions.
Birthing something brand new (whether it’s a baby, a book, or a new business) requires that we meet and dance with powerful energy.
One of the KEYS to staying with it and having an empowering experience is enlisting SUPPORT. It’s important that we create the context for ourselves within which, we will RECEIVE in the midst of it all.
Having the support of a skillful guide can challenge and encourage, uphold accountability to the vision, offer orientation to the territory, insight, and reverence for the power of this birth.
#5 ~ Befriending fear.
Giving birthing to a vision is dangerous (to the ego). There’s wisdom in our fear: we won’t come out unscathed. We’re pushing the limits of our outdated selves, worldviews, and lives.
Bringing forth our creations is soul-shakingly scary. It’s mysterious, otherworldly, itchy, exciting, and confusing. We might get lost in unfamiliar woods.
We need to acknowledge, embrace, and befriend the fears keeping us from moving forward. If we choose to avoid it, we may end up stuck in the creative ‘third trimester’ forever…with fear subconsciously running the show!
#6 ~ Dancing with chaos.
We’ve prepared, planned and worked, we’ve hired help, planted and watered the seeds of our vision. And now, is the moment of truth. This precious moment of bringing forth our creation is a powerful transition. Energy’s swirling, new colors of life open up to us, something’s ashift.
What was before will not be after this moment of birth. Let’s embrace chaos when she comes, because chaos is the very nature of transition. And the real beauty of our vision inevitably unfurls in ways previously unknown to us.
She has a life of her own now.
Each of us, in our own way will meet the powerful energy of our vision coming through.
We learn as we go, our personal dance with the waves of sensation, emotion, and energy of this time of change in our creative life.
#7 ~ Joining the Tribe.
We’re not alone. Many, many women have come before us and birthed their visions and voices, books, new businesses, and babies into the world. They too have experienced gripping fear and anxiety AND discovered inner power and ecstasy beyond their previous limits.
If you haven’t already, join the WILDE Tribe to connect with like-minded inspired female leaders.
Together, we gather our courage and inspiration, adorn each other with dewy rose petals, and make meaning of it all.
It’s all quite juicy, magical, messy, miraculous, and true. Just like you!
MWAH!

P.S. This is the inaugural post of my new site. Some would say I’m launching. I say I’m giving birth! Feel free to coo at my new baby. Isn’t she pretty?
